The NEET UG counselling 2024 will start after the result announcement. Students can check the information on previous years' NEET UG seat matrix, ranks, and counseling. Candidates who want to be considered for NEET UG counseling must score above 15% of the All India Quota Cutoff. There are two types of NEET UG merit lists for students, i.e., the 15% AIQ merit list and the All India Rank (AIR) merit list. The NEET UG counseling process has four rounds, including Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round.
The first two rounds of the counseling process are for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) and deemed & central universities, AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC, and AFMC. Round 3, also known as NEET UG Mop-Up Round, is conducted for the rest of the 85% of state quota seats. The NEET UG Mop round does not include 15% AIQ seats.
The final round of the counseling process is the NEET UG stray vacancy round, which is for those students who have not been selected in Round 1, Round 2, and the Mop-Up Round. If the seats are still left vacant, then these seats are given for the stray vacancy round to respective institutes or colleges. Once all four rounds of the NEET UG counseling process 2023 are completed, additional rounds of counseling will be conducted to fill the seats that have remained vacant.
MCC releases the NEET UG Cutoff in the form of opening and closing ranks. The NEET UG opening rank is the highest rank, which corresponds to the maximum marks, and the closing rank is the lowest rank. The NEET UG Cutoff for AIIMS Delhi was 1-55 for the year 2022. The closing rank for Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, was 91 in the year 2022. It is expected that AIIMS Delhi's NEET Cutoff will be 1-50, while Maulana Azad's will be 1-85. The NEET UG results 2023 will be declared in June 2024 (tentatively). As per NEET UG Counselling's expected dates, the counseling can be conducted between July and October.
State-wise NEET UG 2024 Counselling Dates:
NEET state-wise Counseling dates will be released for various states. The respective state governments conduct state-wise NEET UG counseling for 85% of seats. Candidates can attend different dates for the NEET UG state-wise counseling dates in 2024.
NEET UG Merit List 2024:
The NEET UG counselling process will be based on the NEET UG merit list 2023, which will be released by the MCC. There are two types of merit lists, including the 15% AIQ Merit List and the All India Rank (AIR) Merit List.
NEET UG AYUSH Counselling:
AYUSH Counselling Dates 2023 will soon be announced by the Ayush Admissions Central Counseling Committee (ACC). AC will conduct the counseling for 15% of AIQ seats in government and government-aided institutes for UG courses, including (BAMS/BUMS/BSMS/BHMS).
For the rest of the 85% of seats, state-wise AYUSH Counselling will be conducted by the respective states. - Step 2: On the homepage, candidates will find the link that reads the 'New Registration Round' tab
- Step 3: Now, the candidate needs to select the 'New candidate registration' tab
- Step 4: Now, the candidate needs to read the given instructions and click on the 'I agree' check the tab
- Step 5: Candidates have to enter mandatory details such as NEET UG roll number, NEET UG application number, mother's name, date of birth, and security pin
- Step 6: Click on 'submit'
- Step 7: Once you click on submit, credentials will be generated and sent.

NEET UG Counselling: How to Register?

NEET UG Counselling 2024 Eligibility Criteria
In order to participate in the NEET 2023 counseling process, candidates are required to follow these eligibility criteria:
- First and foremost, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)
- Candidates must have registered themselves on the official MCC website.
- All applicants, including those from the UT of J&K, may take part in the counseling for AIQ seats and designated universities.
Reservation of AIQ Seats in NEET 2023
The government of India has established 10% of the EWS reservation for 15% of the population and 27% of the OBC reservation (Non-Creamy Layer). Candidates are chosen through NEET UG counseling for MBBS (contributed by the State/UTs to the Central Pool) for undergraduate (UG) All India Quota seats (MBBS/BDS). This reservation is valid as of the current academic year (2021–2022).
NEET UG Counselling 2024: Documents Required
Candidates who will report to the institutes that have been assigned to them for confirmation of the seat must carry the following documents with them:
- NEET UG admit card 2024
- NEET UG result 2024 or rank letter
- Class 10 mark sheet and certificate
- Class 12 mark sheet and certificate
- Valid, non-expired and government-issued photo ID proof
- Six to eight passport-sized photographs (preferably the same as the one submitted with the NEET 2024 application form)
- Caste Certificate (if applicable)
- Disability Certificate (if applicable)
- Provisional allotment letter
NOTE: Candidates are required to carry both original and photocopies of the documents mentioned above.
The first round's empty seats will be carried over to the second round. The seats that remain open after the second round of NEET counseling 2023 will be moved to the respective state quota. Through a mop-up round of NEET 2023 counseling, the vacant seats in the AIQ quota of Deemed Universities, Central Universities, and ESIC colleges would be filled. The institutional round or stray round of NEET Counseling will fill any open seats.
NEET UG 2024 Counselling Stages
The counseling process for the NEET UG exam consists of various stages. Here are the important stages included in the NEET UG counseling process:
Choice Filling
Once the registration process is completed, candidates need to fill in the choices by logging into the registered account on the MCC portal
- Candidates need to select the course/college in the desired order of preference
- Candidates are allowed to fill in any number of choices from the list provided
- Candidates also have the option of adding/deleting a choice
- Further, candidates can also move up/ move down a choice as per their preference
- Once done with choice filling, candidates must save a copy of the choices filled for future reference
Seat Allotment
A seat allocation list will be prepared based on the AIR obtained by the candidate, NEET 2023, and the choices filled in the registration form.
The seat allocation results will be uploaded on the MCC's official website.
Reporting to the college allotted
Candidates who receive seats in NEET UG counseling must show up at the designated institutes for document verification and seat confirmation. A candidate's candidature will be revoked if they accept the seat that has been offered to them but fail to report to the provided institute by the deadline.
